What can I expect?

Silverstone has been synonymous with motor racing since the mid-20th century. It is now one of the most famous sporting venues in the world. Silverstone has a much wider story to tell and its place in history was established well before the circuit was even constructed. The permanent Exhibition that will take visitors on an exciting journey through motor racing past, present and future. See the What to Expect page for more information.

How long is my visit expected to last?

The average visit to The Silverstone Experience is expected to last approximately 3 hours including the Heritage Track Trail, although there is no limit imposed on your time at the attraction.

What else can I do whilst I’m there?

In addition to the Exhibition, feel free to explore the Heritage Track Trail which takes you out of the back of the building to a retired section of the famous race circuit and viewing areas. More information regarding events and additional activities will be announced in early 2019. The Heritage Track Trail is available to all Exhibition ticket holders, subject to availability.

There is an event taking place at the circuit on the date I’d like to visit. Can I buy a ticket for the event too?

Yes! We will restrict entry to The Silverstone Experience during the circuit’s major events, therefore if you would like to visit during these times you will be required to purchase an event ticket too. More information will follow.

During the circuit’s smaller events, there’s no requirement for you to purchase an event ticket however if you’d like to extend your visit to Silverstone and watch some live racing on track then you will be able to purchase both tickets.

What will the opening times be?

From spring 2019, The Silverstone Experience will open daily (except Christmas Day). Opening times will vary so make sure you check our Visitor Information page before you travel.

Is there anything I need to bring?

All you need for your visit are your tickets either printed at home or on your smartphone. Feel free to bring your camera and of course we advise that visitors dress appropriately for the weather for our Heritage Track Trail.

I have purchased a guidebook. Where can I collect it?

If you have purchased your guidebook in advance please bring your ticket (either on your smartphone or printed at home) to the customer service desk. Alternatively, you can purchase one on the day of your visit from the Experience Shop.

Are there any age restrictions?

The Silverstone Experience is suitable for all ages and children aged four and under can visit for free, although they will require a ticket. All children must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 and over).

Are there any photo opportunities?

There will be lots of opportunities for photographs throughout the Exhibition and Heritage Track Trail.

Can I shop before and after my visit?

Yes, the Experience Shop will be available to access before and after you enter the Exhibition. If you arrive earlier than your allocated time slot, we are happy for you to browse the gifts and souvenirs in our shop.

Will there be anywhere to buy lunch?

The Silverstone Experience will have a café serving a high-quality range of lunch options, cakes and, hot and cold beverages.

Could I visit simply to visit the shop or the café?

Yes of course you can but please note that during busy periods we may reserve these areas for Exhibition visitors.

Can I bring a camera with me?

The taking of photographs and capturing video footage with handheld cameras and mobile devices is allowed in all areas of The Silverstone Experience, apart from the entrance tunnel and end show. Please note, filming with the use of tripods and other specialist photographic equipment is not permitted.

Can I take a pushchair around with me?

We welcome pushchairs and buggies into the attraction.

Can I bring pets?

We welcome all registered guide dogs, hearing dogs and medical alert dogs into the attraction. If you wish to bring an assistance dog with you for your visit, please ensure you have formal identification for the dog with you such as any relevant documentation or jacket. We ask that if you would like to take part in the Heritage Track Trail that you contact us so that we can make special arrangements with the circuit team.

We do not allow other dogs or pets to enter the attraction and they cannot be left in vehicles for safety reasons.

When can I buy tickets?

We will launch tickets to visit The Silverstone Experience on 5th July 2018. This will allow you to secure your place within the first three months of opening including during the 2019 Formula 1® British Grand Prix.

Why do I need to book in advance? Can I buy a ticket on the day at the attraction?

To ensure you have the best experience possible, we have limited the number of visitors that can visit at any one time. This means that you need to book into a time slot ahead of your visit. As spaces are limited, we strongly suggest you reserve tickets early for your preferred date and time.

How many people does a family ticket cover?

A family ticket permits 2 adults and 2 children, 2 adults and 3 children, 1 adult and 2 children, 1 adult and 3 children or 1 adult and 4 children into the attraction.

I need to add an additional person to my booking, what do I do?

If you’ve not booked a ticket for a member of your party, please contact our Visitor Services Team. Please note, all additional tickets are subject to availability and an amendment fee.

Can I alter the date of my ticket(s) once purchased?

Yes, you can alter the date of your ticket(s) for an administration fee. To do this please call our Visitor Services Team and make sure you have your booking confirmation to hand. Please note that all date changes are subject to availability and must be made before the day of your visit.

Do I need to print my tickets or can I show them to you on my smartphone?

Upon booking, you will be sent your tickets and you can either print them at home and bring them with you or you can keep them on your smartphone ready for us to scan. If you do not have a smartphone or printer please visit the reception desk upon arrival.

Will I be able to visit as part of a group?

Yes, we offer group discounts for groups of 15 people or more. Please contact our Visitor Services Team for more information.

Is there special rates for school groups?

Special rates are available for primary and secondary schools. Please visit our Schools page for more information.

Do you offer refunds?

Our tickets are non-refundable; however we can alter the date of your ticket(s) for an administration fee. To do this, please call our Visitor Services Team and have your booking confirmation to hand. Please note that all date changes are subject to availability and must be made before the day of your visit.

Can I purchase gift tickets?

Yes, we offer gift tickets which make great presents for your family and friends. These will be sent to you in the post. Gift tickets must be redeemed within 12 months of the date of purchase.

Is there a maximum number of children one adult can bring?

For safety reasons and to ensure our visitors get the most out of their visit, we would recommend that one adult is responsible for no more than 6 children.

Can I register as a trade partner with The Silverstone Experience?

Will parent and baby facilities be available at The Silverstone Experience?

Baby changing facilities are available at each toilet block. Hot water for heating up bottles can be provided within the café.

Will you have a café?

The Silverstone Experience will have a café serving a high-quality range of lunch options, cakes and hot and cold beverages.

Could I eat my own food at The Silverstone Experience?

There will be tables available within the Heritage Track Trail area for you to enjoy a picnic.

Will there be Wi-Fi available?

There will be free Wi-Fi available within The Silverstone Experience.

Where is The Silverstone Experience?

The Silverstone Experience is located at the entrance to Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire. It is conveniently situated right in the heart of the UK, approximately 90 minutes north of central London and 60 minutes south of Birmingham. Access is easy along the A43 from either the M40 or M1. Our address is The Silverstone Experience, Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire, NN12 8TN.

Where can I park?

There is a dedicated car park for all visitors to The Silverstone Experience. Please note that during a major event at Silverstone Circuit, all customers visiting The Silverstone Experience will need to purchase an event ticket and transport/parking arrangements as advised when purchasing their event ticket. A list of the major events in 2019 will be announced soon.

Where can coaches park?

There will be dedicated spaces within our car park for coaches and minibuses.

What’s the nearest train station?

The nearest train stations are Northampton, Milton Keynes and Banbury, all of which offer fast connections to destinations throughout the country.

Will The Silverstone Experience have wheelchair access?

The entire Silverstone Experience is suitable for wheelchair users.

Will you have disabled parking bays?

We will have designated parking bays in our free car park.

Is the Heritage Track Trail accessible?

Yes, the Heritage Track Trail is accessible for all visitors.

Is the circuit tour accessible?

Yes, we will have an accessible mini-bus that will be available for you to book onto.

Do you offer carer tickets?

Carer tickets cannot be booked in advance. A free Carer ticket will be provided, as required, on the day of the visit for each customer with a disability paying full price.  You will be asked to provide proof of entitlement on entry to the Experience. We will accept the following documents :

– Letter/notice of entitlement for Disability Living Allowance/Personal Independence Plan

– Letter from your doctor

– Blue parking badge or Freedom Pass

What accessible toilet facilities do you offer?

In addition to accessible toilets located throughout the Experience, visitors can also use the Changing Places facility located on the ground floor. This fully accessible space provides a hoist, height adjustable changing bench, shower facilities, toilet and washbasin. The room is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair user and two carers.

Can I bring an assistance dog with me?

We welcome all registered guide dogs, hearing dogs and medical alert dogs into the attraction.
